Matls succumbs to Tz'arkan 's possession when asleep, and drinks a magical potion to keep himself awake. When be needs the power of the daemon, be imbibes a dark elixir which immediately causes him to lose consciousness, allowing Tz'arkan to take control.

At the start of any Dark Elf turn, Malus may drink his soporific potion and unleash the power of the daemon that resides within him. If he does this, it has the following effects that last for the remainder of the battle:

  • Malus is subject to frenzy and does not lose his frenzy even if beaten in combat.

  • Malus adds + I WS, + IS, + 2T and + 21.

  • He may re-roll any failed Leadership test he is required to take (for spells, Break tests, etc).

  • If Malus is in base contact with a friendly model and not in contact with the enemy in any Close Combat phase (including your opponent's) roll a D6. On a roll of a 4+ he restrains his murderous rage. On a 3 or less he attacks one model in contact chosen by your opponent, resolved as if he was charging, The other model will strike back if it survives Malus' attacks. No combat results are calculated and both models will act normally from the moment the attacks are finished.
